University of Leicesters School of Social Work
Set up in 1966, the University of Leicesters School of Social Work has had a long tradition of professional social work education and training in Leicester. The School has strived to improve and promote social work through research and dissemination of knowledge. Together with its programme partners, the School provides social work education and training
at both qualifying and post-qualifying levels.
Practitioners, statutory and voluntary social work agencies and other bodies and the community at large benefit through consultancies and advice from the academic members of the School. The mission of the School is to contribute to the well being of Society through research, practice development and the education and training of social workers and other professionals.
The School has a strong commitment to raising standards of practice and thereby contributing to improvements in the quality of life of users of social care services and their carers. As an integral part of its overall mission the School also has a strong commitment to enabling its students to operate effectively in an increasingly diverse society. The School is working towards the comprehensive involvement of service users in all its activities.
